PrepNow Tutor - Sabrina F.
A passionate, curious tutor and lifelong learner, Sabrina is eager to help STEM students get to the next level. She has worked with high school and adult learners in courses like calculus (I - III), pre-calculus & trigonometry, statistics, chemistry (I & II), qualitative reasoning (for non-STEM learners), and developmental and foundational math.
She holds several degrees: an AS in computer science from Brightpoint Community College (formerly John Tyler Community College); a BS in engineering science from the University of Virginia; and, in December 2026, she’s set to graduate with her MEd from University of the People. Her work as a software engineer in cybersecurity allows her to share how concepts students are studying can be applied well beyond graduation. Having felt burnt out by the tech world and realized her love of education, she’s eager to become a full-time STEM teacher.
Her style is focused on process and empowerment. “If the student focuses on their curiosity and process, the right answer will eventually come,” she purports. She knows wrong answers are part of the process, and creates a learning environment that is a “safe space for all students so that they can ask questions and explore the subject while not being afraid to fail.” Her personal experiences with ADHD and other learning challenges have informed her approach to tutoring and education as a whole; she emphasizes patience and flexibility so students feel seen and supported.
As a student, Sabrina swam on the swim team and was involved in STEM Club, Women in Computer Science, and Hackathons.
Her free time is spent nourishing her creative side via knitting and sewing. “I've made so many socks and hats, and have recently finished my first vest—and, I am currently working on a sweater!” She also loves designing her own patterns.
