Jordan has experience teaching STEM courses at the K-12 and college levels; he’s adept at demystifying topics in algebra, pre-calculus, calculus, biology, chemistry, and physics.
He earned a bachelor’s in chemistry from the University of Texas, Austin, where he gained research experience in chemical and synthetic biology. Since graduating in 2021, he has worked as a research and development chemist. His prior experience working as an analytical chemist for a polymer manufacturing company allows him to connect the concepts students are learning in school with hands-on, real-world applications. He’s eager to pursue another degree focused on developing AI and ML tools for chemical informatics and autonomous labs.
“I tutor because I love learning,” he says. As a student, Jordan benefited greatly from one-on-one tutoring and wants to pay it forward to younger learners. “I enjoy seeing students gain autonomy in their learning experience,” he adds.
Jordan’s approach is geared toward empowerment and autonomy. “My role as a tutor is to facilitate students' learning and help them gain the independence and confidence they need to believe that they are capable of excelling,” he explains. He’s quick to identify learning gaps and use the student’s strengths to boost any weaknesses or learning gaps. “Repetition builds reflexes; I believe that students gain more understanding by doing daily practice problems and review to help them learn,” he notes.
Outside of STEM topics, he loves spending time with his family, dancing, singing, and watching movies. As a UT graduate, he naturally loves playing and watching sports. Fun fact: his knack for math pays off when playing percussion instruments like drums and the piano.
