PrepNow Tutor - Swapna B.
A passionate educator with a strong foundation in mathematics and statistics, Swapna is experienced in teaching, tutoring, and mentoring students across multiple levels. She holds a BS in mathematics from Indira Gandhi National Open University and an MS in mathematics with a specialization in data science from the University of Texas at Dallas. Since graduating, Swapna has worked as a data professional, steadily upskilling in AI-driven solutions.
Swapna started tutoring because of her strong interest in mathematics and problem-solving, initially teaching her peers about concepts that felt intimidating to them. This peer tutoring led to more formal tutoring and teaching roles, including working as a graduate teaching assistant and a math tutor. “My proudest moment as a teacher and mentor is seeing students who once lacked confidence approach problems independently and explain their reasoning clearly,” Swapna shares. “Watching that shift from hesitation to confidence reminds me why teaching matters, because it reflects not just improved performance, but genuine understanding and self-belief.” Her math tutoring experience aligns directly with SAT/ACT math, including algebra I & II, geometry, probability, statistics, pre-calculus, problem-solving strategies, and test readiness skills.
“I would describe my teaching and tutoring style as student-centered, adaptive, and concept-driven,” Swapna says. “I believe that every student understands material differently, so I adjust my teaching approach based on each student’s learning style, pace, and confidence level rather than relying on a single method.” Her philosophy is that a strong understanding comes from building concepts step-by-step, encouraging the practice of questions, and helping students develop problem-solving skills and confidence, not just memorization. “I specialize in breaking down complex mathematical concepts into clear, approachable explanations while adapting instruction to individual learning needs,” Swapna says. “I’m a collaborative and patient communicator who is passionate about fostering confidence, critical thinking, and long-term understanding in students.”
In high school, Swapna participated in cricket and badminton, received a Certificate of Excellence for scoring over 90% in Grade 10, and won multiple Mathematics Olympiads. Outside of work, she enjoys staying active and balanced through long walks in nature and regular yoga practice. “I love baking and dancing, and my kitchen often turns into a mini dance floor while something’s in the oven,” Swapna shares.
