PrepNow Tutor - Nicholas B.
A motivating tutor, Nicholas holds a BS in physics from Prairie View A&M University. Since graduating, he has done “almost a little bit of everything,” including tutoring high school and middle school science, reviewing and editing AI prompts, and working as an optometric technician. “The core value that I hold myself to is determination,” Nicholas shares. “That determination is what I use to keep on going, being kind to others, and making sure that I do my best to live life in a way that I can be proud of.”
Nicholas started tutoring in high school and became a professional tutor after finishing college, working with students in math, science, and SAT/ACT prep. In math, he’s primarily taught pre-algebra, algebra 1, trigonometry, geometry, pre-calculus, calculus, and college algebra. In science, he’s taught biology, chemistry, and both standard and AP physics.
“I tutor in a more adaptive style,” Nicholas says, recognizing that every student learns differently. He takes time to understand how each student processes new concepts, adapting his instruction to meet them where they are and help them move forward. Whether a student needs support with foundational understanding or applying concepts in practice, Nicholas provides personalized guidance that builds confidence and encourages deeper learning. His goal is not only to help students succeed academically, but also to help them become more self-aware and independent learners. “My philosophy behind this approach is that humans can learn the most once they're given the environment to try and do things themselves,” Nicholas explains.
As a student, Nicholas participated in marching band and orchestra. As part of a U.S. Department of Energy fellowship, Nicholas conducted nuclear physics research at Brookhaven National Laboratory and presented his findings at multiple Texas A&M conferences. He enjoys playing video games and instruments, practicing coding, being a handyman around the house and with his car, and experimenting in the kitchen. “I play at least seven instruments fairly well and have gone to competitions for two of them.”
