PrepNow Tutor - Megan K.

Megan is excited that she gets to blend her loves of engineering and education. She holds a BS in biomedical engineering from the University of Cincinnati. Since graduating, Megan has worked as a private tutor, teaching students in algebra, geometry, trigonometry, pre-calculus, biology, and chemistry. She has also worked as an instructor of students with intellectual disabilities, helping create a curriculum to serve her students. Currently, she works at a nonprofit company that provides adaptive gaming technology to support individuals with disabilities. As a result of these experiences, Megan is adept at finding creative solutions to meet student needs.
Indeed, Megan has always enjoyed using her unique training to create new ways to help students. Particularly, she likes using real-world examples—especially from engineering and gaming—to make abstract concepts more tangible. As she does so, she takes a patient and adaptive approach, seeking to help students build confidence. She says, “I believe education should empower students to think critically and creatively, not just perform well on tests; I also believe that expressing empathy and demonstrating flexibility are crucial to being an effective tutor.” In her time as a tutor Megan has always sought to create educational environments where students feel safe, curious, and motivated to grow.
Outside of work, Megan aims to balance mental and physical activities. In high school, for example, she was captain of her soccer team and a member of the Beta Club. In college, she was part of an engineering sorority and a member of the Biomedical Engineering Society. These days, she works out regularly to keep in shape but also likes to relax by playing video games and reading.
