PrepNow Tutor - Aidan R.

A former online teaching assistant, Aidan is well-versed in effective strategies to reach students in remote one-on-one and group settings. He holds a bachelor’s degree in history and political science, with a minor in English, from Bethel University, where he graduated with honors and was in the Pietas Honors Program. After graduating, he held various jobs in the federal government, the most recent being a financial specialist and consultant within the Veterans Administration.
A helper at heart, Aidan got started tutoring as a natural progression of being a quick learner with a passion for sharing the joy of mastering a new concept. “One of my proudest moments was writing up operating procedures on how to do payment history audits; I thought it was going to be similar to pulling teeth, but being out of my comfort zone and learning and developing something new was a very worthwhile experience,” he recounts.
Aidan prioritizes process over product. “In most cases, I prefer to show people how to do something rather than tell them the right answer,” he explains. After assessing a student’s natural processes, he’s quick to adapt to effectively and efficiently redirect or fill any gaps. While he doesn’t subscribe to any one teaching method, he often heavily relies on modeling and Socratic questioning to best guide students.
In college, he acted in several plays, was part of an improv troupe, served as a committee chair for the Student Senate, and was president of the Model United Nations Club.
In his free time, he loves studying history, reading novels, playing board games, painting, and writing stories. Fun fact: he has visited fifteen different countries so far!
