PrepNow Tutor - Noah S.
Noah has tutored math, instructed in game design, and spent time in the classroom as a digital literacy teacher. He graduated from Tufts University with a BS in computer science. After graduating, he worked as an after-school and summer camp STEM instructor. Then, he taught 6th grade computer science in Revere, MA for a year. "On the side, I also do floral design and have been working on a small indie video game as the principal coder and 3D artist," he explains.
His teaching experience is broad. He was a private tutor from 2016-2022 and taught geometry as well as algebra 1 and 2. He was also a game design teaching assistant in college. At the Brains and Motion Camp he was a K-8 grade STEM instructor, and he has taught both computer science and digital literacy to sixth graders.
Noah's proudest teaching moment was when his 6th grade computer science class hosted its first video game expo. "Students got to display all of their game projects and we invited the whole school to come play their games! The students worked for weeks on their games and it was so rewarding to see my students get to talk about their creative process and have a final product to show off to friends and family," Noah recounts.
As to his teaching style, Noah likes to do a lot of hands-on work when possible and give students the opportunity to learn by doing. "I ask a lot of questions and try to check in at each step of the process to make sure we find any places where understanding is lost," he explains. "It is important to me that students know that it is okay not to understand everything, and that trying your best and admitting you don't know something are valuable skills."
In high school, Noah participated in Model UN, National Honor Society, and ran track and field. These days, he loves video game design, digital art, cooking, and watching baseball. "I have a dog named Baylee!"
