Tripp's Bio

Before pursuing a career in education, Tripp applied teaching skills in various fields like coffee making, rock climbing, and the humanities; he eventually found his niche working at an academy for historically underserved students. Tripp earned a BA in history and film studies with a minor in African American Studies from Trinity University; he also obtained an MA in history from Villanova University.

When he returned to school for his graduate degree at Villanova, he worked as a graduate assistant for the History Department and the Albert Lepage Center for History in the Public Interest. After falling in love with Southeastern Pennsylvania, Tripp decided to stay and started working as a humanities teacher and mentor at Fusion Academy; he soon became office manager and Homework Cafe Lead Teacher. "In these roles, I have supported and instructed students in several subjects, along with creating and implementing student co-curricular programming, designing programs to support and teach executive functioning skills, and operational ownership of the campus."

Tripp's proudest moments involved a student learning to trust school again after nearly dropping out. "He said he was too old and too dumb and could never graduate, but with an individualized approach and a team of teachers who really believed in him, he graduated and went on to start his own business!"

Tripp believes that teaching begins with shared communication and trust. "The goal is to provide the skills and tools for a student to understand and build an approach for a student to solve problems, think critically, and decide for themselves how best to learn and grow as a student," he explains. "Coming from Fusion Academy and the one-on-one model, I have seen how successful a personalized approach to education can be." Tripp is adept at providing the best tools and individualized support to help students succeed independently and confidently.

As an undergraduate student, Tripp earned the title of "Outstanding Student," received full funding for his graduate degree, and was given the opportunity to work at a museum on oral histories. In 2024, he also received the Teaching Excellence Award from Fusion Academy Malvern.

In high school, Tripp was a member of the chamber and show choirs, theatre, and theatre tech crew. In college, he joined the University choir and an acapella group. Tripp also played volleyball and founded the Rock Climbing Club team at Trinity.

Outside of work, he regularly rock climbs, both in gyms and in nature. He is also an avid reader, DnD player, indoor gardener, and crafter. "I am really trying to tap into my creative side by trying things like linocut printing, sewing, screenprinting, and clay sculpting."
