Okoduwa's Bio

Okoduwa enjoys helping people build confidence and master material that once felt intimidating. “I bring a can-do attitude and growth mindset to all areas of life, whether that be my career in public health and change management, my baking and cooking adventures, or the gym,” he says. He has experience providing advising, study support, and accountability coaching to students in various stages of life and learning.

Okoduwa earned a BA in the history of science and medicine from Yale College and an MPH in social and behavioral sciences from Yale University’s School of Public Health.

Since graduating, he has worked across education and consulting, including roles as a first-year academic counselor at Yale and as a consultant at Deloitte and Guidehouse. In any pursuit, problem-solving, communication, operations, and mentoring students and teams are Okoduwa’s strong suits. “I've been blessed with outstanding mentors who have equipped me to achieve more than I'd thought possible, so I'm eager to pay that privilege forward!”

He began tutoring and mentoring as an undergraduate counselor at Yale, where he supported students through academic and personal transitions. The experience taught him the importance of patience and accountability. “One of my proudest moments has been helping students significantly improve their test performance and self-belief over time, especially when they began convinced they ‘just weren’t good’ at a subject,” he shares.

Okoduwa describes his approach as structured, encouraging, and highly adaptive to the individual student. “I focus on building both mastery and confidence by breaking complex ideas into manageable steps, identifying gaps in understanding, and helping students develop systems for critical thinking rather than memorization alone,” he explains. His patience and clear communication allow him to tailor his approach on the fly to best serve and ultimately empower his students in their learning journeys.

Okoduwa is proud that several of his theses and clinical research experiences, including topics like radicalized masculinities and homosexual community stressors, racial and ethnic disparities in the prostate cancer VA health system, and racial implicit associations in psychiatry, have been formally published.

He’s also honored that in 2019, he was nominated for Yale College’s Manuelidis Prize, which is awarded to outstanding senior essays in the history of medicine, with a preference for topics related to social justice.

In high school, he was a member of the City of Torrance Youth Council, Health Occupations Students of America, FIRST Robotics, JV volleyball, and the National Honor Society; he also served as student body treasurer and class president. At Yale, he was a light designer for the drama department and was involved in Yale College Council, Loom and Fiber Arts Studio, Entrepreneurship ThinkTank, and Effective Altruists.

In his free time, he enjoys exploring new bakeries and restaurants, cooking concoctions for friends and family, hitting the gym, listening to podcasts, and reading magical fiction. “Last but not least: I'm a proud cat dad to the most precious long-haired diva,” he adds.

Fun fact of yesteryear: When he was 10, the contents of his diary were leaked, “so I created my own writing system that only I can read and write!”
