Devoted cat parent Foxglove enjoys reading science fiction and playing video games. He earned two bachelor’s degrees from Indiana University Bloomington—one in journalism and one in film production. They also minored in photojournalism at IU, where they graduated magna cum laude. Foxglove was an Ernie Pyle Scholar in the IU journalism honors program as well as a Hutton Honors Scholar in the general IU honors program. During their undergrad degree, they were heavily involved in student journalism. They served as both a beat reporter and the multimedia desk editor at the college newspaper in addition to working in the college radio station. They were also a member of the National Lesbian and Gay Journalists Association for four years.
After graduating, Foxglove began archiving the IU physical film holdings. They then moved to DC to digitize the Library of Congress’ copyright application archive. After the Library of Congress, he worked at the National Archives where he worked with government film holdings. In a single year, he personally inspected over a million feet of film! He is currently pursuing a cosmetology license as a means to connect with his creative roots.
In 2017, Foxglove began tutoring as an undergrad. He helped students with all 100-200 level college papers in addition to running workshops to develop cover letters and resumes. “When I tutor, I prefer to treat students as peers and not as clients,” he says. “Not everyone has the same strengths, and I’m happy to lend mine to help someone achieve success with a subject they struggle with,” Foxglove explains. This approach is driven by a single idea: “We succeed most when we work as a team.”
Foxglove is drawn to whimsy. When they are not spending time with their cats Miso and Matcha, they are painting, attending local shows, or participating in their speculative fiction book club. He recently learned how to eat fire! He says of the experience, “Not as hard as it looks.”
