PrepNow Tutor - Bimal N.

A math and science tutor who loves helping students succeed, Bimal is patient and loves breaking down tricky topics into simple, clear ideas. He holds a PhD in physics from Temple University, and an MSc and BSc in physics from Tribhuvan University in Nepal. Since earning his doctorate, Bimal has worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of North Texas, where he focuses on conducting computational physics research. “What really drives me is seeing students gain confidence and become independent learners who believe in themselves,” Bimal says.
Bimal started teaching after completing his master’s degree in 2012, initially instructing undergraduate engineering and physics courses. Over the years, he has expanded his teaching to include tutoring science and math topics and mentoring students in research projects, helping them develop skills in computational physics, programming, and scientific visualization. “My proudest moment as a teacher and mentor was witnessing the transformation of first-generation and international students in my classes, who initially struggled with complex concepts and academic writing,” Bimal recalls. “Seeing them gain confidence, improve their understanding, and successfully complete research projects and lab work was incredibly rewarding, as it affirmed the impact of personalized guidance and encouragement."
Bimal’s teaching and tutoring style is student-centered and adaptable. “I focus on breaking down complex concepts into understandable steps and encouraging students to actively engage with the material through problem-solving and critical thinking,” Bimal says. “I emphasize building strong conceptual foundations first, then connecting them to practical applications.” Bimal recognizes that students, especially those from diverse or nontraditional backgrounds, thrive when they feel supported and able to learn at their own pace. “My philosophy is that education is not just about memorizing formulas or procedures, but about developing independent thinking, curiosity, and a lifelong love of learning,” he says. “I aim to inspire students to become confident learners who can tackle challenges both inside and outside the classroom."
As a student, Bimal participated in journal clubs, research presentations, soccer, volleyball, fitness club, student council, cultural clubs, community service projects, and more. Outside of work, he enjoys playing soccer, exploring new places, listening to music, and watching movies.
