Cameron's Bio

Cameron has several years of experience teaching university-level math, including pre-calculus, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, calculus, business calculus, and discrete (abstract) mathematics.

Cameron earned a BS in mathematics from the University of North Texas, where he graduated magna cum laude and later earned an MS in mathematics. “I decided to pursue and complete a Master's degree in mathematics for an in-depth study of statistics, as well as for the unique opportunity of teaching university-level mathematics courses both face-to-face and online,” he shares.

His experiences as a graduate teaching assistant and graduate teaching fellow secured his passion for helping students build strong foundational skills and master intimidating tests. “My proudest moment as an educator thus far was holding extra study sessions at the school's library for my students with over 90% attendance,” he recounts.

Cameron’s approach emphasizes intuition and interactivity. “My goal as an educator is to encourage students to try any problem they encounter while developing the intuition and problem-solving skills to be more prepared for newer questions and ideas,” he explains. Building strong foundations, confidence, and independence is key to this approach. “This is achieved by a guided study of the ideas encountered until students can effectively recognize and make use of the definitions we've covered together without my suggestions or supervision,” he adds.

He graduated with his master’s as a Distinguished Honors Student at UNT. In addition to teaching underclassmen, he played for the varsity esports program, participating in League of Legends and ultimately ranking as “Top Laner/Mid Laner/Support.” In high school, he played basketball and football.

These days, he enjoys weightlifting, reading, and playing video games. “My goals are to average 6 days a week in the gym, 2 books read or more per month, and to spend time with friends both on video games and elsewhere,” he shares. An avid reader, he’s proud of having read over 100 books during the 2020 pandemic.
