PrepNow Tutor - Mayowa D.

Mayowa began tutoring through a program hosted by his undergraduate institution, Logan University in Missouri. He holds a BS in human biology from that school. While completing his degree, Mayowa tutored peers in calculus I and II and statistics. Mayowa has worked since graduation in several tutoring roles and in many areas. For example, he has tutored students for standardized testing, including the SAT, ACT, ISEE, ACCUPLACER, and TSI (Texas Success Initiative); he has tutored math students in elementary math, middle school math, algebra I and II, geometry, pre-calculus, AP Calculus AB/BC, college algebra, college calculus I and II, and college statistics; and he has tutored English students in phonics, reading comprehension, AP English, and college writing. This teaching experience and the expertise gleaned from his academic training make Mayowa a strong resource for an array of students.
Mayowa begins each new encounter with a student by assessing their specific needs. Only once he has assessed a student’s capabilities and comfort level can he truly adapt a strategic plan for that student. If, for example, he finds a student to be confident and independent by nature, he tends to provide the student with more space to explore, stepping in as needed to buttress the student’s initiative. On the other hand, if a student seems less self-assured, Mayowa will provide more structured and assiduous support, helping the student to build confidence. He says, “Regardless their skill levels, all of my students are guaranteed to receive patient and thorough sessions wherein they can confidently ask questions and learn without any boundaries.” His empathetic and metered approach to tutoring allows Mayowa to help students form effective connections and succeed in the future.
In his free time, Mayowa reads a lot of comics and manga; Spiderman and Batman are his favorite comics, and Dragon Ball Z and Blue Lock are among his favorite manga. Not surprisingly, Mayowa also really enjoys animation. Indeed, he has always found the process and history of animation fascinating, and he is a huge fan of Disney, DreamWorks, and Illumination studios. Finally, when not pursuing his love of graphic arts, Mayowa enjoys exploring other cultures through their cuisines, experimenting with Asian, Hispanic, and Nigerian recipes.
