PrepNow Tutor - David H.

A lifelong learner, David is passionate about math and science. He holds a BS in chemistry and math from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a PhD in physical chemistry from the University of Nevada-Reno. He’s also completed chemistry graduate work at North Dakota State University and recently worked as a postdoc in Toronto, where he studied brain function.
Throughout graduate school, David was a teaching assistant, and his responsibilities gradually increased to labs, discussions, and lectures. He taught both general chemistry at North Dakota State and physical chemistry at the University of Nevada-Reno, where he also tutored math and physics for six years.
David is a student-centered tutor who emphasizes a growth and inquiry-rooted mindset. “I believe it is important to create an environment where failure is seen as an opportunity for more inquiry and problem-solving,” David says. “All students should feel comfortable taking risks and asking questions in an inclusive learning environment that accommodates different learning styles and promotes respect for diverse perspectives.”
In high school, David participated in the marching band. He enjoys reading about math and science and collecting Squishmallows. He is the first author on three papers about lasers and fast protein dynamics. A Minnesota native, David describes himself as a happy tutor. “Growing up, my favorite Nintendo character was Kirby,” David shares.
