Sachin's Bio

A father and retired IT professional, Sachin is honored to participate in the development of students. Sachin attended Savitribai Phule Pune University in the state of Maharashtra, India. He graduated with a degree in computer engineering. He spent thirty years working in software development and architecture. Most of his experience was in banking and retail software—revamping online stores, modernizing store return software, and other similar system overhauls.

Sachin first started teaching while an undergrad presenting papers. He did not begin tutoring in a formal sense until 2008. Initially, Sachin worked with his son before expanding to his son’s peers. While IT paid his bills, the hours he spent tutoring every week gave him priceless satisfaction. Of the experience, Sachin says “every student who has gone through me and achieved his goal is a proud moment.” Now that his family commitments are over, he has retired and is looking to launch a second career as a tutor. Because Sachin’s tutoring mirrored his son’s school career, his experience is wide ranging. He has tutored middle school language and sciences, high school mathematics and science, and both ACT and SAT test prep. In addition to the lower level calculus, physics, and chemistry courses, Sachin has also tutored versions of those AP courses.

“I am the third leg of a three-legged stool responsible for the student’s success—teacher, parents, and tutor,” Sachin explains. The tutor fills a unique position. “In my experience, students are tired after school when they come for tutoring sessions,” he says. Because of this, Sachin uses a conversational approach to engage with students. As a result, he has learned a wide range of extracurricular activities—sports, music, drama, art—in order to connect with students. He finds this adds value to their conversations. More importantly, “connecting any educational activity or concept to the student’s favorite extracurricular activity tremendously helps in their understanding.” Sachin also uses humor—word play is his favorite.

While Sachin became passionate about tennis when his son was a nationally ranked player in high school and college, his first love was cricket. Sachin played cricket in college and at the club level and nearly pursued it as a career! He still regularly works out at the gym and loves to go backpacking. When he’s home, Sachin enjoys gardening.
